LITTLETON -- Charles Vaston Blackburn, 84, died Sunday, Jan. 10, 2010, at Halifax Regional Medical Center in Roanoke Rapids. He was a native of Columbus County, the son of the late Hilton Blackburn and Mary Polk Blackburn. He was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Blackburn and three sisters, Thelma Spivey, Louise Graham, and Edith Gray Watts.

Charles was a former employee of Fox/Holsum Bakery for 34 years, was a United States Navy veteran having served in World War II and a member of the American Legion.

Final rites will be held at Enterprise Baptist Church Wednesday, Jan. 13 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Darren Lambert officiating. A graveside service will be held Thursday, Jan. 14 at 2 p.m. at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Tabor City. Visitation will be held Tuesday, Jan. 12 from 7-8:30 p.m. at Blaylock Funeral Home in Littleton and on Thursday, Jan. 14 from 1-2 p.m. at Inman Funeral Home in Tabor City.

Survivors include three sons, Tim Blackburn of Littleton, Mark Blackburn, and Terry Blackburn, both of Wilmington; a brother, Robert Blackburn of Whiteville; six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren.
