Funeral services for the late Garie L. Crawford, aged 89 years, veteran Gila County peace officer, were held from the chapel of the Jones Funeral Home Saturday afternoon at 3:00 o'clock. Burial was in Globe cemetery.
The services were conducted by the Rev. R. Daehler, pastor of the First Baptist Church. Hymns were sung by Mrs. Roger Preston and a quartet from the choir of the First
Baptist Church consisting of Mrs. Preston, Mrs. Frances Phillips, Dan Shelton and Lou N. Morris.
Mr. Crawford was a native of Tempe, Texas and engaged in the cattle business before coming to Clifton in 1905. He served as chief of police at Clifton and deputy sheriff at Morenci.
Mr. Crawford came to Globe in 1922. He first engaged in the grocery business as a partner of the late Albert Ferguson. He served two years s chief of police of Globe. Later he served as deputy sheriff of Gila county and was night jailer at the time of his death.
In addition to th widow, Mrs. Dee Crawford, he is survived by a son, Dudley Crawford, Salida, Colo., a granddaughter, Sanda Crawford, Salida, a brother, Max Crawford, Los Angeles, and two sisters, Miss Minnie Crawford and Mrs. Ed Harmon, Lampasas, Texas.
Mr. and Mrs. Dudley Crawford and daughter were in attendance at the funeral and will return next week to Salida.
Mrs. C.N. Witcher, Lampasas, and sister of Mrs. Dee Crawford, also Willis Harman, former resident of Globe, also attended the funeral services. Mr. Harman is a nephew of Mr. Crawford
