Ira T.Baird died just after midnight Thursday in the Decatur and Macon county hospital from injuries received when he was struck Thursday afternoon by an automobile drive by Harold Adams of Litner. Mr.Baird came from behind a parked car and the Adams car struck him.There were no broken bones but there must have been some internal injuries. Mr.Adams reported the accident and remained there until an ambulance came and took Mr. Baird to the hospital. He lost conciousness after being taken to the hospital. Ira Thompson Baird was born in Bellefonte, Pa, Aug. 14, 1848. He came to Shelby county in 1861 and settled at Prairie Home and lived there until about eight years ago when he quit the farm and moved to Decatur. He was one of the leading men of the Praire Home community and held several positions of trust. He was a member of the Presbyterian church, a prominent mason, being a member of various orders of the society.Besides his wife, he leaves the following children, Mrs. Claude Ashbrook of Fort Lauderdale,Florida, Miss Helen Baird of Portland, Ore., Claude Baird of St. Louis,Keith Baird of Springfield and Glynne Baird of Decatur.The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon in the parlors of Munson & Wikoff and was conducted by Rev. Wm H. Mason. The body was taken to Prairie Home.
