She was born January 20, 1927 in Marion, Indiana a daughter of C. John and Ada Marie (Curtis) Peoples. Her formative years were spent in Fort Wayne. She graduated from South Side High School, Fort Wayne with the class of 1945.
On December 29, 1956 she married Eugene R. Wiegman. They made their home in Fort Wayne. Later the couple moved to Philadelphia and then to Carlisle, PA. In 1984, the couple returned to the area first living at Loon Lake, Whitley County and in 1991 moving to Irish Lake, Kosciusko County. Mr. Wiegman died August 21, 2008.
She began her career at International Harvester, Fort Wayne. When the couple moved east, she took a job as Head of Payroll for Winslow Township, New Jersey.
She is survived by a son and daughter, Gary (Debra) Wiegman, Clayton, NJ and Martha J. Shaw, Aloha, OR; a grandson, David Wiegman, Clayton, NJ; two granddaughters, Stefanie and Jessica; a sister, Donna (Doug) Erman, Ohio, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Dawn Wiegman.
A Memorial Service will be held at 6: 00 p.m. Friday, August 17th at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City with visitation beginning at 4:00 p.m. The burial will be at a later date in Eel River Cemetery, Allen County.
