Sarinus (Serene) Aeschliman, son of Joel and Catherine (Gingerich) Aeschliman, was born August 13, 1881, on a farm near Stiles, Ia. He passed away at a hospital in Centerville, Ia., February 20, 1960, at the age of 78 years, 6 months and 7 days.

On December 17, 1905, he was married to Thelma Nalley. To this union two children were born, Mrs. Ben (Naomi) Graves and Harold of Lancaster, Mo.

He is survived by his wife, children, his grandchildren, Ben David Graves of Kirksville, Carol Graves, Donald and David Aeschliman and Mrs. Paul Scott of Ottumwa, Ia., and one great grandson, Kyle Graves. Also surviving is one sister, Mrs. Fred Reschke, Pratt, Kans., and one brother, Jack Aeschliman of Montezuma, Kans. and several nieces and nephews.

His parents, three sisters and three brothers preceded him in death.

He spent his childhood in Iowa and moved to Schuyler County, Mo. as a young man. He was engaged in farming until the past five years when ill health forced him to retire.

Serene has been a member of the Lancaster Methodist Church for the past 40 years where he was Sunday School superintendent and a member and past chairman of the church board.

He was a devoted husband and father and will be missed by all who knew him.

Funeral services were held at the Methodist Church in Lancaster, Monday, February 22, 1960, at 2:00 p.m. conducted by Rev John Ward Jr.

Pallbearers were Edson Tallman, Leon Self, Robert Atteberry, Warren Gardine, Paul Welsh and Dillon Aeschliman. Honorary pallbearers were the Brotherhood class.

Soloist was James B. Russell with Mrs. Zula Lyberger at the organ. Selections were "Amazing Grace" and "Beyond the Sunset."

Flower bearers were members of the Builders Sunday School class.

Interment was in the Arni Memorial Cemetery.

Arrangements were by Normans.
