Lucile was the first child born to Otto and Sophie (Yeutter) Batruff in a farmhouse north of Eustis on Dec. 1, 1918. She was baptized and confirmed in the Eustis Methodist Church. She attended rural school north of Eustis and graduated with the last class in the Eustis High School building in 1936. She taught rural school in Dawson County and took education courses at Kearney. Following the death of her mother in 1941, she became a "second mother" to her younger siblings, a role she never relinquished.

She married Lorenz Wahl on Dec. 27, 1945, after he returned from World War II. The couple pursued farm life on the Wahl homestead, which they bought from his parents. Following Lorenz's accidental death on Feb. 15, 1972, she remained on the farm. She took a job in housekeeping at the Cozad Community Hospital.

On March 16, 1974, she married Harland "Harley" Anderson. Harley died in 1978 and Lucile moved to Cozad in February of 1979. In November 2005, she moved to Stone Hearth Estates in Gothenburg and in December 2006, she moved to Hilltop Estates.

She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Eustis and later American Lutheran Church in Cozad. She was active in the women's organizations and Bible study. She was also a member of the Cozad Community Hospital Auxiliary, Eustis American Legion Auxiliary, a Gothenburg quilters' group, a craft club and bridge clubs in Cozad.
