Upon returning from WWII he worked at St. Paul Blue Print. He met Esther Gardner, they were married in 1949 and had a family of five children. In the 50's he went to work for the Northern Pacific Railroad in the engineering dept first as a draftsman then moved to routing checking clearances for oversize freight shipments on all of their railroad right-of-ways.
After retirement he and Esther retired to their summer home on Lake Lindstrom, MN. They spent their winters in McAllen TX. Larry loved fishing with Esther and his time with a coffee group in Lindstrom playing dice.
