------------

Leota Temple Sizemore, daughter of Wesley D. and Ann Elizabeth Sizemore, was born near Middle Grove in Monroe County, Missouri, on June 19, 1860. When she was fours years of age her parents moved to Lancaster, Missouri where, with the exception of fourteen months that she later spent in Randolph County, she has continuously resided.

She was married to Reuben W. Graves, at Lancaster, on January 22, 1878. To this union three children were born: S. E. Graves and R. H. Graves, both of Kansas City and Mrs. Mildred Shepherd of Lancaster.

Early in life, she became a member of the local Christian church and has, during all these years, been one of its most faithful and consecrated members. Both by precept and example she has held high the banner of her faith and has contributed much to the advancement of the Kingdom in her community. As long as her health permitted she was regular in her attendance at all its services and supported and maintained it, in all its work, far beyond her strength.

She was public spirited and broad minded; interested in the affairs of her nation and of the world at large; but her greatest affection was for her church and she supported it with a zeal and loyalty that was exceeded by none.

She was a charter member of Meridian Rebekah Lodge, No. 127 and was one of its regular attendants. She was deeply interested in all its work, especially was she interested in the benevolences maintained by the order.

Hers was a busy, happy, quiet life; spent chiefly in an effort to help others. Her most outstanding trait of character was that of loyalty. Loyalty to her church, her family and her friends.

She died at her home, on Saturday, August 22, 1936, aged 76 years, 2 months and 3 days, survived by her husband, her three children, two grandchildren, four sisters and two brothers and a large circle of relatives and friends. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon, August 24 at 2:30 at the Christian church conducted by Rev. Robert Seath and the Rebekah Lodge. Interment was in the I. O. O. F. cemetery.
