Garfield R Hunter Sr., 74, Russiaville, died 10:45 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7,2001, at his residence. He was born March 16,1927, in Canalou, MO., the son of Ada (Hudson) and Otto Hunter. On May 8,1948, in Kokomo, he married E-Lane (Wilson) Hunter who survives.
He was retired from the wet-wire department at Continental Steel Corp., where he worked for 32 years. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of New London Masonic Lodge #283 F. & A.M. and Kokomo Eagles Lodge #255. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and whittling.
He is survived by his wife; a son and daughter-in-law, Garfield R Jr. and Dianna Hunter, Duffield, Va.; a sister, Mary Acord, Kokomo; a brother, Reed Hunter, Kokomo; six grandchildren, Jon Griffey, Bill Hunter, David Hunter, Shannon Hunter, Robyn Hunter and Felix Hunter; 25 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and two sisters.
Services are 2 p.m. Tuesday at fillers Mortuary, 725 S. Main St, with the Rev. Robert Wright officiating.
Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens Cemetery with military honors. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the mortuary with a Masonic service at 7 p.m.
