Ella Mae Willett, daughter of Herbert Willett and Martha A. Cosselman, was born 29 Aug 1867 in Climax, Kalamazoo, Michigan. She married James Henry Burdick, son of Edward E. Burdick and Harriett Lucinda Cosselman, on 22 Feb 1883 in Kalamazoo Co., Michigan

James and Ella Burdick had three children, 1) Edward H. Burdick, born 1 Jan 1884 in South Dakota 2)Mary Burdick, born and died before 22 Jan 1887, on the Flathead Indian Reservation, Montana; and 3) Annie Elizabeth Burdick, b. 22 Jan 1887 on the Flathead Reservation, Montana. Mary died just as the family was about to continue their journey to California.
