Fountain Inn

Grady W. Rice, 90, of Fountain Inn, passed on to Heaven on Monday, January 4, 2010, to join his wife of 57 years the late Kathryn C. Rice.

He was the son of the late Bennie David Rice and Della Ann Norris Rice.

Born in Pickens, Mr. Rice was a retired Machinist with JD Hollingsworth, a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, a member of the VFW, Mason, American Legion, Disabled American Veterans, and served his country in the United States Army in World War II. He received the World War II Victory Medal, ATO medal, Good conduct medal and Purple Heart. His service to our country took him to Normandy, Rhineland and Central Europe.

He is survived by one daughter: Joyce R. Holland of Fountain Inn; one son: Bennie C. Rice and his wife, Jo Ann, of Powdersville; one grandson, Jeffrey Lee Holland of Greenville; and one sister, Eunice Mercer of Fla.

He was predeceased by several brothers and sisters.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 7, 2010 from 10 to 11 a.m. at Cannon Funeral Home Fountain Inn, followed by a graveside service at 11 a.m. in Cannon Memorial Park.
