CLAYTON LEACH DIES OF WOUNDS
Clayton Leach, gunner's mate third class, 24, died of wounds received in action aboard a ship presumably in the South Pacific, his mother, Mrs. W. G. Leach, 302 Highland, was informed by the Navy department late Thursday.
Leach was home in April after 18 months in the Southwest Pacific and spent his 10 day leave with his mother and sister, Mrs. Thelma Comegays (sic). He enlisted in the Navy in July, 1942 and went overseas after six weeks of basic training serving in the Gilbert and Marshall campaigns.
The sailor was born in Merkel and had lived in Abilene high school in 1938. He attended Texas A&M two years coming home to work in an auto supply store prior to his enlistment.
The last letter receive from him was dated July 10.
He is survived by his mother and sister.

REBURIAL TODAY FOR CLAYTON M. LEACH
Reburial services for Clayton M. Leach, son of Mrs. Joyce E. Leach, 302 Highland, will be conducted today at 3 o'clock in Elliott's Chapel of Memories.
The Rev. J. H. Hamblen will oficiate and burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery at Merkel under direction of Elliott Funeral Home of Abilene. The local VFW post will perform graveside military rites.
