Rubye Alexander
Rubye Eli Alexander, a former cashier, died Thursday at home. She was 80. A native of Dawson Springs, Ky., Mrs. Alexander lived for the last two and a half years in Fairhope. She worked at Sears in Columbus, Ohio, and at Hammels Department Store in Mobile. She belonged to the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, the American Legion Auxiliary and Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary. She also was a member of First Christian Church. Survivors include two daughters, Roberta Cherne of Spanish Fort and Bette Jo Singleton of Daphne; one son, Joseph C. Alexander Jr. of Mobile; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Visitation will be today from 1 p.m. until the 3 p.m. service at Serenity Funeral Home on Old Pascagoula Road in Mobile. Burial will be in Serenity Memorial Gardens.
