LOMA MAN PASSED ON
Loma, Feb. 28 – John Vlach died at his home near Loma February 20, having reached the age of 77 years, 8 months and 20 days.
He was born in Opatovic, Czechoslovakia in 1869, a son of Mrs. James Vloch. He came to America alone at the age of 14, and stayed with his uncle in Nebraska. He spent his youth working as a hired man in the vicinity of Omaha which was then a comparatively small growing city.
He was united in marriage to Mary Houdek in 1893 and lived to celebrate his golden wedding in 1943. This union was blessed with nine children, four of whom preceded him in death. The first 21 years of his wedded life were spent in Sarpy county. Later he moved to a farm near Loma, where he spent the rest of his life.
Funeral services were held at St. Luke's Catholic church in Loma, Rev. Leiblinger officiating. Interment was in St. Luke's cemetery. The pall bearers were: Charles Houdek, Jr., James Vacek, Richard C. Potter, Robert Potter, Benjamin Potter, Joe Kolar.
He is survived by his wife; two sons, Joe and Charles of Loma; three daughters, Mrs. Richard Potter, Mrs. Frank Patocka, and Mrs. Frank Dvorak, of Valparaiso; six grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
He was a member of the Catholic church his entire life. He will long be remembered for his industrious nature and for his deep faith in his religion.
