The death of Mrs. Geo. A. Brackett, an estimable lady, and the wife of one of our oldest citizens, occurred last Monday morning at the family residence, 625 Fifth street south. She was 52 years of age and spent nearly half her life in this city. The cause of her death was cancer of the breast from which she had suffered for the past two years.
Mrs. Brackett was the daughter of William Hoyt, a former resident, and a sister of Mrs. W. M, Brackett. She was married to Geo. A. Brackett in 1858 and was the mother of eight children, one girl and seven boys six of whom acted as pall bearers at her funeral. She was an exemplary Christian and interested herself in charitable work, and no call of individual distress or misfortune was ever left unanswered by her. Her husband has the sympathy of a large circle of friends in his affliction.

At an early hour yesterday morning death knocked at the door of George A. Brackett and summoned thence his wife, Anna M. Brackett, who had long been ill. Although it was known that Mrs. Brackett's case was hopeless, her departure from earth was none the less a severe blow to her family. Mrs. Brackett was Miss Anna M. Hoit, and has lived here since about 1856. Her parents were of the earliest and most highly respected settlers. Her father died only a few years ago at an advanced age. Mrs. Brackett was fifty-three years old. She leaves eight children, seven boys and one girl. The funeral will occur from the house, 625 Fifth street south, this afternoon at 2 o'clock.
