Benny was a career soldier with the US Marine Corps, retiring with the rank of Master Gunnery Sargeant. He served in the Marshall Islands during WW2, then Korea, and 2 tours in Viet Nam. He retired in 1973 as Postal Chief of the Fleet, while stationed at 'Pearl'. He was the guy that got the mail out to the young Marines.
