Mary, widow of the late Herman Kirk, died Wednesday, July 6, 1898. Her maiden name was Grove. She was born in Lewisberry, October 2, 1829, and has resided in that little village all her lifetime. She was married in 1847 to Charles H Walker, who died five years later. In 1868 she was married to the late Herman Kirk, one of the prominent citizens of Lewisberry. Three sisters and one brother survive her, viz., Mrs. Jacob Welsh, of York; Mrs. Howeter, of Pittsburg; Mrs. Zimmerman, of Chicago, and Virtue Grove, of Lewisberry.
About six months ago a tumor, which she had for many years developed into a malignant cancerous growth, and caused her great suffering. Although suffering excruciating pain, she bore all with patience and Christian resignation. She had many friends in this city, as well as in her own community.
Funeral services were conducted in the Methodist Episcopal church, Lewisberry, of which the deceased was a consistent member. The sermon was preached by Rev. H.M.J. Klein, pastor of Grace Reformed church, York, Text Rev. 7:14. Interment Saturday last at 1:00 p.m. in the family burial plot of Emanuel cemetery, Lewisberry.
