Juanita Kelley-Johnson was born January 1, 1928 in Commerce, OK to James (Lace) Kelley and Elsie Davis-Kelley. The youngest of eight children, she grew up east of Tahlequah in the tiny community of Punkin Holler. She attended Punkin Holler School until the eighth grade, but due to the death of her father was unable to continue her education.
Juanita married Virgil Leon Johnson on March 28, 1947 and celebrated their 54th anniversary before his passing in December 2001. Together they had four wonderful children: Keith Leon Johnson, Pamela Sue Johnson, Cynthia Ann Johnson-Peeler and Beverly Gayle Johnson-Seal.
For 67 years, she was a resident of Catoosa, OK and attended Timber Ridge Assembly of God since 1962. She was a lifelong housewife, but also worked outside the home for 30+ years at Industrial Laundry, Byron Jackson Pump, Centrilift and Lowrance Electronics. In her free time, she loved flowers, gardening, traveling and visiting with her family and friends.
Juanita is preceded in death by her parents, James (Lace) and Elsie, Ettie McCarter (sister), Alvie Kelley (brother), Vada Thompson (sister), Floyd Kelley (infant brother), Millard Kelley (brother), Granville Kelley (brother), Leonard Kelley (brother), Virgil Johnson (husband) and Pamela Sue Johnson (infant daughter).
She is survived by her children: Keith Johnson and wife, Diana, of Claremore, Cynthia Peeler and husband, Rick, of Broken Arrow, Beverly Seal and husband, John, of Roanoke, VA. Six grandchildren: Karen Johnson, Kimberly Johnson-Underwood, Terry Seal-Wenninger, John L. Seal, Cody Peeler and Cory Peeler. Three great-grandchildren: Jensen Keith Underwood, Sloane Brielle Buchanan, Leona Gayle Seal and loving nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors.
Juanita lived an ordinary life, but left an extraordinary legacy of love, faith, family and friendship.
