Born in Carrollton Jan. 13, 1921, he was the son of Ninian and Charlotte (Johnson) Burruss. He married the former Winifred Faith of Rockbridge April 2, 1944, in Columbus, Ga., and she survives.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Winnie, are a son, David Burruss of Manchester, Mo.; two daughters, Linda King of Roswell, Ga., and Susan Brown of Plano, Tex.; and five grandchildren, Krista Linscott of Roswell, Ga., Alyssa and Aaron Brown of Plano, Tex., and Shannon and Lindsay Burruss of Manchester, Mo.
A commissioned World War II veteran, serving with the US Army, Mr. Burruss graduated from Carrollton High School where he participated in all sports, lettering in several, and from the University of Illinois, with a major in marketing.
The family will receive friends immediately following an 11 a.m. memorial service Saturday, Sept. 17, at Webster Hills United Methodist Church, 698 W. Lockwood, St. Louis. Private interment was today, Thursday, at Carrollton City Cemetery. Gerber Chapel of St. Louis was in charge of arrangements.
