ELDRED — Sylvis S. "Sid" Cousins, 95, of Sena-Kean Manor, Smethport, formerly of Duke Center, died Friday (July 21, 2000) in Bradford Regional Medical Center. Born May 22, 1905 in Dial, he was the son of Henry and Rebecca May Lasher Cousins. On Feb. 23, 1933, in Allegany, N .Y., he married Helen M. Spencer, who survives. Mr. Cousins worked in the coal mines in Kittanning and then during the Depression he worked for Wasson Oil Company as a rig builder. Later, he worked for Tide Water Oil Co. and then for South Pennzoil as a head roustabout for 20 years. In total, he worked for over 30 years at Pennzoil prior to retiring. In addition to his wife, he was survived by a son, Ronald L. Cousins of Duke Center; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Cousins was preceded in death by four sisters and three brothers. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday in the Frame Funeral Home, where funeral and committal services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday with the Rev. Glenn Hamilton officiating. Burial will be in Duke Center Cemetery.
