ALBERT J. F. TEGTMEIER

Albert John F. Tegtmeier, was born March 5, 1904 on the family farm south of Lewiston, Nebr. He passed away at the Pawnee hospital on Oct. 20, 1965 at the age of 61 years, seven months and 15 days.

He was presented to his Lord by the sacrament of Holy Baptism as an infant by the late Rev. Herman Krueger, and was instructed in the Christian faith and confirmed by the same pastor. He attended the public school and grew to manhood in the Burchard community.

He was married to Mabel Macha of the DuBois community on Feb. 11, 1931 at Frieden's church south of DuBois. They were privileged to share with one another the joys and sorrows of this life for a little more than 34 years. They engaged in farming near Steinauer the first year of their marriage and lived there 18 years before moving to their present farm south of DuBois in 1949.

Three children were born to this union: Carol, Mrs. Ernest Krikava, of Pawnee City; Elda, of the home; and Doris, Mrs. Willard Wenzl, of Pawnee City.

He was apparently in good health most of his life until he suffered a light heart attack on Oct. 5. He was taken to the Pawnee hospital on Oct. 18, and passed away Oct. 20 from another heart attack.

Albert was a loving husband and father. He gave patient and loving care for many years to his invalid wife, never complaining of this extra effort. He made many sacrifices for his wife and children and was never happier than when surrounded by his children and grandchildren.

He never met a stranger. His interest in people was evidenced by his ability to make friends. He enjoyed helping his family, neighbors and friends whenever possible.

He was a member of the Salem's church near Steinauer until he transferred his membership to the Frieden's church after moving to the DuBois community. He was currently serving as the president of the Dist. 72 school board.

He is survived by his wife, Mabel; three daughters; two sons-in-law; and two grandchildren whom he was privileged to enjoy for one and a half years. His departure is also mourned by four brothers: Raymond, Ervin, Ernest and Lawrence of the Burchard community; two sisters, Lola Tegtmeier of Burchard and Mrs. Earl Albers of Stuttgart, Germany.

Preceding him in death were his parents; one brother, LaVern; and one sister, Irene. His departure is also felt by many other relatives and a great number of friends.

Albert was a giant of a man, but so gentle in his ways. He could throw a bale, on the end of a pitchfork, into the window above his head without the slightest effort. His nature was kind and caring, appreciating any help he received, and letting you know he did.
