The nickname "Kit" was used by the first Christopher Barbee and then his son used it also, They were known as "Kit" and "Old Kit". On Page of "A study of the Barbee Familes of Chatham, Orange and Wake Counties of North Carolina" by Ruth Herndon Shields, Belle Lewter West and Kathryn Crossley Stone. They show this Christopher Barbee as using the nickname Kit. It Could be there were too many Christopher in the area at that time
