Funeral services were held Thursday, May 24, in the Booker Methodist church for Abram Levi ALLEN, a former Perryton resident, who died May 22 at his home in Booker. He was 82 years of age.
Mr. ALLEN came with his family from Missouri in 1905 and settled near Miami, Texas. He lived there until 1916, when he purchased a farm in Ochiltree county. He retired from active farm and ranch life in 1941.
Except for two years spent with his daughter in California, Mr. ALLEN spent 36 years in Ochiltree and Lipscomb counties. He returned to Booker in 1946.
He was the son of Moses W. and Mary ALLEN, born August 14, 1868 in Union Star, Missouri. He was united in marriage to Jane Elizabeth HOLLAND in 1899 and to this union one son and three daughters were born.
The son, Audi, died in 1941. His wife Jane Elizabeth, passed away in 1943.
During 1946 he was married to Mrs. Minta FOWLER. Mr. ALLEN was first a member of the Baptist church and in later years changed his membership to the Full Gospel faith.
Rev. Raymond Campbell conducted the final rites assisted by Rev. H. E. Cook.
Active pallbearers were Ralph TALIAFERRO, Elmer SMITH, Bill CAMPBELL, George HENTON, Harry MOUNTCASTLE and Coy MERYDITH. Honorary pallbearers were Billy BROWN, Bert MARSH, J. B. BURNER, W. C. DEMING, Sherman FRONK and Eddie HARRISON.
Flower girls were Mrs. Verla HENRY, Mrs. Seda LYLE, Mrs. Stella KERNS, Mrs. Lee COMER, Mrs. Helen BOWDLE, and Mrs. Rachel MERYDITH.
Survivors include his wife, Nell Minta, Booker; three daughters, Mrs. Wanda ANDERSON, San Leandro, Calif., Mrs. J. B. CARTWRIGHT, Jr., Booker; Mrs. Loyd FURNISH, Beaver; eight grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren.
Interment was in the Ochiltree cemetery.
