He was a production manager for Smith & Wesson and Wagner Shells in Rich Creek, Va. In his retirement years, he worked more than 15 years as a bagger for Publix.
He served in the United States Navy for seven years and as a radio operator during World War II in the Pacific theatre.
He has been a member of the Church of Christ for 53 years and an active member of the Lake Placid Church of Christ for 18 years, where he was a past elder.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Bonnie; daughters, Sharon K. Talbott, Carol S. Edwards and Joyce H. McPherson; 7 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren.
Interment in Oak Hill Cemetery, Lake Placid, with veterans honors.
