ACKERMAN, William E."Bill" age 84 of Kettering, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, January 2, 2010 at Brighten Gardens. Bill was born on April 11, 1925. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 62 years, Peggy, his daughters Patty Griffith of Liberty, IN and Carole Ackerman of Kettering; grandchildren Jessica, Joy and Jenni; 5 great grandchildren; brother Jack Ackerman of Spring Valley; sister Ann Haines of Dayton; special friends Rev. Norman and Norma Hartman and a host of friends. Bill proudly served our country in the US Navy during WWII. He was a lifetime member of Sheet Metal Local 224. He was a Charter Member and financial director of Dayton Gospel Temple and New Life Fellowship. Bills long time passion was his family and his love of Gospel Music. He promoted Gospel Music in the Dayton area for over 40 years. He was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Funeral services will be 1:00 pm Wednesday, January 6, 2010 at New Life Gospel Fellowship 999 Spinning Road, Riverside, with Rev. Timothy Hume and Rev. Norman Hartman. Family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Tuesday at Newcomer Funeral Home Beavercreek Chapel 3380 Dayton-Xenia Road. Entombment will follow at Woodland Mausoleum.
