Ralph S. Widener, 95, of Carlisle and formerly of Brandtsville, PA passed away Saturday at Chapel Pointe Retirement Community, Carlisle. He was born September 9, 1914 in Aitch, Huntingdon Co., PA to George and Martha Widener, the youngest of nine children.
Mr. Widener was retired from the State Correctional Institution at Camp Hill as a Carpenter Instructor.
He was a member of Eureka Lodge #302 F&AM Mechanicsburg, 32 Degree Mason and a Shriner.
He was a member of Trindle Springs Lutheran Church, Mechanicsburg and was an avid hunter and outdoorsman.
He was the widower of Marie (Morder) Widener after 48 years of a loving marriage.
He is survived by 2 daughters: Shirlie Schultz of Richmond, VA; and Linda Widener of Carlisle. 1 son: Donald Widener of State College; 5 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 11:00am Thursday, January 7, 2010 at the Myers-Harner Funeral Home, Camp Hill. Burial will be in Rolling Green Memorial Park. Viewing will be from 10:00am--11:00am Thursday at the funeral home.
