Juana L. Valdez, 85, passed away Friday, June 16, 2006, at a local nursing center. A prayer service will be 7:00 p.m. Monday at Abilene Funeral Home Chapel of Hope. Mass will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at St. Francis Catholic Church with Father Thomas Manimala officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, directed by Abilene Funeral Home. Ms. Valdez was born December 25, 1920, in Rockdale, Texas and had been a resident of Abilene for over 54 years. Survivors include two brothers, Jose L. Valdez and Manuel L. Valdez, both of Abilene; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters.
