Mrs. P. H. Zeigler, 85, a resident of the Gatesville area practically all her life, died Sunday afternoon at her home, 1010 Waco Street, following a long illness. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the First Baptist Church, Rev. J. T. Ayers officiating. Burial was in the Restland Cemetery, with Scott's in charge.
Pallbearers were John P. Reesing, E. Price Bauman, Merle Carroll, A. W. Ellis, C. B. Powell, Fred Schaub Jr., Troy Jones and Rufe Brown.
Mrs. Zeigler, the former Miss Mary Jane Daugherty, was born in Milam County Nov. 12, 1872. She had lived in Coryell County for 79 years.
She was married to Mr. Zeigler Aug. 15, 1889. He died in 1916. Mrs. Zeigler, a member of the First Baptist Church of Gatesville, had lived at the Waco Street address the last 11 years.
Surviving are three sons, Roy Zeigler of Gatesville, Robert H. Zeigler of San Antonio and Floyd Zeigler of Gatesville; four daughters, Mrs. J. B. Walking, Mrs. F. W. Schloeman and Mrs. John Bone, all of Gatesville, and Mrs. H. B. Perryman of Denison; 11 grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; a brother, S. H. Daugherty of Abilene; and two sisters, Mrs. W. L. Brown of Houston and Mrs. R. E. Schrimsher of San Antonio.
