Edison Pope Young, 77-year-old Coryell County farmer, died of a sudden heart attack at his home near Jonesboro last Saturday morning. He was a member of a pioneer Coryell County family. Funeral services were held at 2:30 p. m. Monday at Scott's Chapel, Rev. W. E. Harrell and Rev. Ferrell Little officiating. Burial was in Restland Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Melvin Weaver, Jack Williams, J. 0. Head, Carson Sellers, P. T. Lemmons and John Baskin, and honorary pallbearers were members of the Jonesboro Methodist Men's Class.
Mr. Young, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. James Young, was born and reared in the Pancake-Jonesboro community. He lived in Houston for 40 years, before moving back to Coryell Countv in 1944. He formerly served on the Farmers Home Administration committee for this county.
A member of the Methodist Church and the Masonic Lodge, he was married to Miss Nellie Nix June 6, 1913. She survives him.
Also surviving are Mrs. Carmon Greenwood of Houston, a niece of Mrs. Young who was reared in the Young home; Mrs. Greenwood's son, Robert Greenwood of Houston; three brothers, Henry Young of Jonesboro, Taylor Young Sr. of Jonesboro and H. 0. Young of Houston; and one sister, Mrs. George Brasher of Jonesboro.
