Clement, son of Oliver and Anna Rosenberry, was born April 9, 1825, near Canal Dover, in Tuscarawas Co., Ohio, and departed this life at his late home in Butler, DeKalb Co.,Ind., Nov.11, 1916, aged 91 years, 7 months and 2 days.

December 1, 1845, he was united in marriage to Elizabeth Sprankle, and to this union were born ten children, six sons and four daughters. In 1852 they came to DeKalb Co. to live and toiled together till Aug 16,1866 when his companion was claimed by death.

March 25, 1869, he married Rebecca A David, who walked with him nearly 48 years and who bore him two sons.

He was converted about the year 1865 and joined the church of the United Brethern in Christ, being a member of the West Zion class at the time of his death.

He lived a consistent christian life and exemplified his profession in dealing with his fellowmen.

He was one of the pioneers of DeKalb County who experienced many hardships and privations incidental to the early settlers of a forest of heavy timbered country, but with hardy hands of toil and frugal self-denying life, he made for himself and family a home. He was honored and respected among the many friends he made during his long journey through life.

Three children preceded him to the spirit world, one daughter, Emma Roy Evertts, George, and infant babe, all children of his first marriage.

He leaves to mourn their loss, his faithful and devoted companion and upon whom he leaned in his declining years, four sons and three daughters. Henry of Goodwine, IL; Oliver of Butler, Ind., Walter of Union City, Mich., Jacob of Cadillac, Mich. and Elizabeth Robinett of Edon, O; Malinda McClellan and Magdaline Curry of Butler, Ind., children of his first marriage and two sons, Clement of Litchfield, Mich, and Frank of Butler, Ind., children of his second marriage. Two step daughters, Clarissa Ann Rosenberry of Butler and Emeline Curry of Goodwine, IL, daughters of his second wife by a former, together with a former marriage, together with a large number of grandchildren, great grandchildren and a host of friends. His going was at a ripe old age like a shock of ripened grain.

Funeral services was held in the West Zion church and his body was laid to rest in the Eddy Cemetery to await the resurrection morn.
