For almost 20 years, Eddie and his wife Ruth owned and operated the Mud Butte Store in Mud Butte South Dakota, where Eddie was appointed the postmaster in 1952. In 1967, they moved to Spearfish, South Dakota and a year later, to Rapid City, where he worked at the Rapid City Post Office until he retired in 1985.
