Aged Invalid Dies At Her Home Here Saturday


Mrs. Daniel Gidden, age 75 years, over the past 12 years an invilid [sic], died of pneumonia at her home in Memphis Saturday evening at 3 o'clock. She was very well known here having been a Memphis resident for a number of years, and her many friends are grieved to learn of her passing.


The deceased is survived by three sons, W.D. of Dimmitt Texas, Arthur of Plaska, and Edwin of Canyon, four daughters Ara, Memphis, Mrs. Colie Crawford, Memphis, Mrs. S.O. O'Donald of Canyon, and Mrs. T.B. Butler of Tulia; one brother of Agle [sic]; one sister of Bovina, all were present at the funeral.


Mary Ann Ross was born in Fulton, Miss., Jan. 30, 1849. When as a young girl, she moved with her parents W.D. and Jean Ross, to Daranelle Ark. coming to Texas, in 1859.


She was married to Daniel Gidden, March 23rd 1877 [sic].


To this union nine children were born, seven of whom survive, three sons and four daughters She professed faith at 19 years of age, uniting with the Baptist church, in which faith she lived and died.


The family moved to Hall County, January 1908, living near Lodge, Texas.


Her husband died more than five years ago.


During the past few years she has resided in Memphis Texas, with her daughter, Ara.


Funeral services were held from the First Baptist Church Sundaay [sic] afternoon at three o'clock, with Rev. Chas T. Whaley officiating. Interment was made in the Fairview Cemetary [sic].
