Medina County Gazette: 11/21/1989 Edward Bartholomai, 73, of Lodi, died Thursday morning in Akron City Hospital after a six week illness. Born in Plainfield, N. J., he purchased the City Hardware Co., in 1923 and moved to Lodi. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Lodi and a member of the Harrisville Lodge 137 F and AM and the Mound Lodge 845 IOOF in Lodi. In Addition, he was the past commander of the Lodi Post 523 of the American Legion and served for 35 years on the Lodi Volunteer Fire Department where4 he was chief for 22 years, until his retirement in December 1968. He was a member of the Soldiers and Sailors Relief Commission for the last 12 years and served one two-year term on the board of directors for the Ohio State Hardware Dealers Associaiton. During World War I he served in the armed forces. Mr. Bartholomai is survived by his widow, Louise; three daughters, Mrs. Roy (Ann) Holzer of Lodi; Mrs. Richard (Janet) Rowland of Virginia Beach, Va.; Mrs. William J. (Mary Jane) Fitch of Elyria; eight grandchildren. Three brothers, George, Louis and Dr. J. W. Bartholomai, all of California, also survive. Services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday in the Parker Funeral Home, Lodi, with the Rev. Eugene Priest of Lodi officiating.
