Prentiss L. Edwards, son of Samuel and Julia Edwards, was born in Wayne County, June 22, 1882. Departed this life Nov 4, 1952, being 70 years, 4 months and 13 days old.
He was united in marriage to Amanda Franklin in 1903. To this union 9 children were born, namely Newell, Leo, Leonard, Carl, and Bula of Albany, Dillard of Jamestown, Tenn,, Hershel of Powersburg, and Corda and Oris of New Castle, Ind., 25 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren to mourn his passing.
He was seriously ill for two months before his death. He entered the Albany Hospital for 10 days, and was later moved to St. Joseph's Hospital in Lexington, where he underwent an operation.
All was done for him that human hands could do, but God saw fit to call him away.
Funeral services were held at Edwards Chapel Church with Bro. Henry Perdue and Bro. Clarence Bertram officiating.
His grandsons were the pallbearers and his granddaughters were the flower girls. Music and singing by the Bertram quartet, after which his body was laid to rest in the Edwards Chapel Cemetery to await the Resurrection Morning.
