Mary Campbell "Mollie" Gideon was born to James H Gideon and Henrietta Clay Bassore Hall Gideon in Brownwood, Brown Co. Texas. In 1881, she was 10 years old when her father died while serving as the County Treasurer for Brown Co.

Her mother inherited an estate of property with the value of $270. It is unclear exactly what the mother did with that inheritance, but family legend has it, that 36 year old John T Hudson came to Brown Co from Anderson Co and found 16 year old Mollie working in her mother's Brothel. He promptly married her and they had 9 children.

After John died in 1916, she married Richard Andrew Shea in 1918. He died around 1920 and she married Matthew Stephenson.

Four of JT and Mollie's children died in infancy but 5 grew to adulthood. One of them (and the only daughter to survive) was my grandmother, Johnnie Lavern Hudson Moore.

The babies whose burials have not been found are:
Dora Helen Born 1-22-1892 Died 6-22-1893
Mary Alta Born 5-29-1894 Died 7-30-1900
Paul Thomas Born 7-22-1908 Died 9-21-1908
