Mary Margaret Elizabeth "Betty" Woerly, age 90, of Monmouth, Ill., died at 1:40 a.m. on Thursday, December 31, 2009, at the Monmouth Nursing Home. On March 27, 1919, Betty was born in Raritan, Ill., the daughter of David W. and Ellen L. Collins Barry. Betty attended Barry School in rural Media, Ill., and graduated from St. Joseph High School in Rock Island, Ill.
On September 27, 1939, Betty married Maurice E. Woerly in Raritan. He preceded her in death on July 17, 1994.
Betty's employment included the Monmouth Hospital where she was a nurses aide, then one year at Monmouth College and lastly for District #38 School District in Monmouth as a cook at Central Junior High School. Betty was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Monmouth and its Altar and Rosary Society. Betty was a devoted mom and family was most important to her.
Surviving Betty are four daughters, Mary (Don) Ray of College Grove, Tenn., Ann Schaumleffel of Nashville, Tenn., Linda (Terry "Doc") Lathrop of Beardstown, Ill., and Karen (Jerry) Moore of Monmouth and two sons, Ed (Dianne) Woerly of Monmouth and Mike Woerly of Jacksonville, Florida.
Also surviving are numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren and one sister, Eileen Flanagan of Clear Water, Florida.
Preceding her in death are her parents, husband, four brothers Peter, James, J D and Robert and sister Mary Lund.

Services: Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, January 4, 2010, at the Immaculate Conception Church in Monmouth. Rosary will be recited at 2:00 p.m. with visitation to follow on Sunday, January 3 at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth. Interment will be in the St. Mary Catholic Cemetery. A memorial fund is being established for Immaculate Conception School.
