James Edgar Cheney, 84, died Friday May 11, at his home in Scotts after a short illness. He was born in Rochester, N.Y. may 16, 1860, the son of Daniel and Roxina Cheney, and moved to Michigan with his parents when a small child. Except for a few years in Port Huron he has lived in Scotts the greater part of his life. He was formerly employed by the Grand Trunk Railway. He was a member of the climax Lodge F.& A. M. and the Montour Grange of Scotts. His wife, Mary Wilson Cheney, died Feb. 4 1944. They celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary in 1943. Surviving are a sister, Mrs. Elcy Husted, Galesburg; and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Lillie Braden, of Scotts. Services were held from the M. E. Church in Scotts Monday at 2 p.m. with Miss Bessie Rulison in charge with Masonic services at the Boughton cemetery. Climax Crescent May 18, 1945 page 1
