Jerry C. "Bub" James Jr., 61 of Duncan, passed away on Dec. 24, 2009, at his home in Duncan. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 4, 2010 at Immanuel Baptist Church with Wayne Houston officiating.Cremation arrangements under direction of Don Grantham Funeral Home. There is no visitation at the funeral home.
He was born Monday, Sept. 20, 1948 in Duncan, the son of Jerry C. Sr. and Helen M. (Moore) James.
Jerry grew up in Duncan and graduated from Duncan High School. He earned an associate degree from Cameron University.
Jerry served in the United States Navy from 1969-1973 during the Vietnam War.
After his service, he married Peggy Louise Phillips on June 24, 1972.
He was employed in Duncan with Ridley's Packing Plant, Halliburton Services and Tosco Refinery and in Dallas with Hunt Oil Company.
Jerry enjoyed spending time with grandchildren, traveling, camping, fishing, building model ships and airplanes and barbecuing on the grill. He was a generous, hard-working man and loved helping others. Jerry loved to make people laugh with funny jokes and stories. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Peggy, of the home; two daughters: Cheryl Jones and husband, Craig of Jakarta, Indonesia and Mandy Robbins and husband, Jon of Duncan; sisters: Annette Sedbrook and husband, Delbert of Kan. Delores Wheeler and husband, Freddie of Maryville, Tenn. and Cecelia Bogle and husband, Frank of Duncan; five grandchildren: Joshua Smiley, Tyler Jones, Ashton Jones, Nathan Robbins and Chloe Robbins, numerous nieces, nephews and many other loved family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Loretta Bray; nephew P.J. Bray; niece Schulita Bray and nephew Mike Sanner.Honorary bearers are: Garry Phillips, Joshua Smiley, Tyler Jones, Rudy Williams, Jon Robbins and Craig Jones
