PERU Joseph P. Boone, 88, rural Peru, died at 6:33 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2003, at Dukes Memorial Hospital.
He was born on Oct. 26, 1914, in Miami County, to Joel P. and Hattie (Angle) Boone. His first marriage was to Dorothy O. Landis. She is deceased. He later married Bessie Bowerman Richardson. She survives.
He retired from Jefferson-Smurfit Container Corporation, Wabash. He was a member of the German Baptist Church.
Also surviving are a son, Danny L. (Sharon) Boone, Wabash; two stepsons, Howard (Arliss) Richardson, Converse, and Harold (Merideth) Richardson, North Fort Myers, Fla.; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Larry (Laura Jane) Godfroy, Peru, and Judy Case, Rochester; six grandchildren; 11 stepgrandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; 23 stepgreat-grandchildren; and three stepgreat-great-grandchildren. A brother, George Boone; a sister, Frances Crim; a son, Larry D. Boone; two grandchildren; and one stepgreat-grandchild are deceased.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home, Peru. Elder Max Barton will officiate. Burial will be in Falls Cemetery, Wabash. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Preferred memorials are to the German Baptist Church and/or Faith Baptist Church.
