Zelda's obituary was published in the December 23, 1992 issue of the Parkersburg Eclipse, Parkersburg, Butler County, Iowa:

"Zelda L. Jaquis

Zelda L. Jaquis, 87, of the Cedar Falls Western Home died Wednesday, December 16, 1992 at the Western Home of natural causes.

Zelda was born on August 22, 1905 in Shell Rock, Iowa the daughter of Thomas and Ethel Goodsell Adell. She attended school in Shell Rock and graduated from the Shell Rock High School. She then went on to attend Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls, which is now U.N. I.

On March 21, 1928 Zelda was united in marriage to Max Jaquis in Waverly, Iowa. The couple made their home on a farm near Parkersburg, Iowa. On June 28, 1956 Max died and Zelda moved to Cedar Falls to live with her daughter. She later attended Gates Business College for a year and after graduating, became employed with Briden Insurance Company, retiring in 1966. After her retirement, she moved to New Hartford, Iowa where she lived until becoming a resident of the Cedar Falls Western Home in 1989. Zelda had lived at the Western Home ever since.

Zelda was a member of the New Hartford United Methodist Church; a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star; and the Anchor Rebekah Lodge # 46 in New Hartford.

She is survived by one daughter and her husband, Carol and Forrest Bentley of Waterloo; 4 grandchildren: Darwin Bentley of Cedar Falls, Laura (Bentley) McGlaun of McKinney, TX, Juline (Jaquis) Blandford of Cedar Falls, and Elise (Jaquis) Howe of Cedar Falls; 2 great grandchildren: Matthew McGlaun and Thomas Blandford; one brother Herbert Abell of Sarasota, Florida; and one sister Evelyn Chapman of Waterloo.

She was preceded in death by her husband Max; her parents; one son Gordon Jaquis; and 3 sisters: Gladys Anderson, Erma Wagner, and Mildred Mazes.

Funeral services were held Saturday, December 19, 1992 at 10:30 a.m. at the New Hartford United Methodist Church with Rev. Dwight F. Grosvenor officiating. Burial was in the Riverside Cemetery, Shell Rock.

Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Cedar Falls was in charge of the arrangements."
