Elizabeth's mother Elizabeth Nelson Catchpole died in 1892 and a little over a year later her father married the widow Martha Brunton and adopted the Brunton children, 6 in number - Andrew, Robert, Thomas, Alex, Facey and James. Now there were 11 children and Elizabeth's widowed grandfather Andrew Catchpole also lived with them.
