Beautiful Life Was Ended Friday
Following an affliction which she had borne with patience for many years as a result of a fall, combined with complications. Mrs. Lou McNair Peed, widow of Appling Bestroud Peed who died in April 1922, peacefully passed away shortly after the noon hour Friday. While her illness was of a lingering nature her death was almost unexpected being confine to her bed less than 24 hours. The announcement of her passing cause grief to many hearts not only in this county, but elsewhere throughout this section of the State where she was well known and highly esteemed.
All the care and love that skilled physicians and an anxious household could devise and apply for her comfort and assistance were brought into play but He who rules our incomings and outgoings was fit to take the sufferer's spirit to that home the Christian believes is the fulfillment of life everlasting.
The decease was formerly Miss Lou McNair, daughter of Mr. Samuel and Mrs. Isabella McNair, of Marion county, but now deceased. She was born and reared in Marion county, Ga. and at about 20 years was of age was married to Appling Peed with whom she lived happily until his death fifteen months age. At the time of her death Lou was 76 years of age, forty or more of which had been spent in this county.
Lou was a member of the Congregational Methodist Church. She joined the Methodist Episcopal church, south, when quite young, but in later years had placed her membership with the Congregation Church. Her life was one of service for the Master, and this consecrated Christian woman will be missed not only by her loved ones but by all who knew her.
Surviving are the following children: J.R. Peed of Montezuma; Mrs. Bob Bohler of West Point; Mrs. Sallie May Foy, L. T. Peed and L.B. Peed of this county.
The funeral services were held Saturday morning at Bethel Church. Reverend Birdsong of Upson Co. and the deceased's pastor, officiating. The interment was in Union Cemetery. Relatives from a distance attending the funeral service were; J. R. Peed and family, Flurry Peed and family of Montezuma; Mr. and Mrs. Jones and two daughters of Hapeville; and Mrs. Eddie Peed of Marshallville.
