Lafayette – Funeral Services will be held for Adam "Blackie" J. Guilbeaux, 78, at 10:00AM on Saturday, January 2, 2010 at David Funeral Home of Lafayette with Bro. Mark Gaudin officiating. Visitation will begin on Thursday, December 31, 2009 at 3:00PM with the funeral home remaining open all night Thursday and Friday until his service on Saturday, January 2, 2010. Interment will take place in Lafayette Memorial Park.
A native of Broussard and resident of Lafayette, Blackie passed away at 8:45PM on Tuesday, December 29, 2009 at a local hospital. He served in the Army for six years. After being discharged he was employed with TransWorld Drilling Company from 1956-1976. He founded Blackie's Rental Tools in July of 1976 and owned it until he was laid to rest. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who deeply cherished his family.

He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Annette M. Guilbeaux of Lafayette; his daughter, Ruby D. Guilbeaux of Lafayette; his son, Jackie R. Guilbeaux and wife Sharon of Broussard; ten grandchildren, Ryan W. Comeaux and wife Bridgette, Dustin R. Comeaux, Britni L. Comeaux, Adam J. Guilbeaux, Alexis C. Guilbeaux, Hannah L. Castille, Hailee M. Castille, Francesca Z. Toce, Gianni D. Toce and Elle A. Toce; three great-grandchildren, Brylie J. Badeaux, Jayden P. Comeaux and Jolie G. Comeaux; three sisters and one brother.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clemile and Marie Romero Guilbeaux; his daughter, Danna M. Guilbeaux Toce; two brothers and one sister.

Serving as pallbearers will be Ryan Comeaux, Dustin Comeaux, Adam Guilbeaux, Beau Badeaux, Vince Myrick and Clint Crappell. Honorary pallbearers will be Lonnie Malcolm, Russell Baker, Dwayne Hebert and Shannon Hundley.

The family would like to thank Hospice of Acadiana and the staff of Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center for the wonderful care they gave to Blackie.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Hospice of Acadiana, 2600 Johnston St., Suite 200, Lafayette, LA 70503.
