An Obituary from "Gatesville Messenger & Star Forum," Friday, April 12, 1957:

Funeral services for John Marvin (Bob) Patterson, 79, prominent Coryell County farmer, were held Saturday afternoon at Scott's Funeral Home. Mr. Patterson, who had resided in this county for nearly 60 years, died last Thursday night in the local hospital.
Rev. A. Loper conducted the funeral rites, and burial was in the Restland Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Ray Franklin, Mickey Kilgore, Gene Anderson, Jack Jaquess, Clyde Moore and Charlie Jaquess.
A native of Tennessee and a member of the Baptist Church, Mr. Patterson was married to Miss Belle Moore Aug. 1, 1903. They resided in the Osage community for a number of years, and later moved to White Hall.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Patterson is survived by five sons, J. F. (Pete) Patterson of Gatesville, Ted Patterson of Reagan, Charles Patterson of Denver, Colo., Ralph R. Patterson of San Francisco, Calif., and Joe C. Patterson of Springfield, Mass.; nine daughters, Mrs. John Kilgore of Houston, Mrs. Junie Williams of Houston, Mrs. Furman Applegate of Manhattan Beach, Calif., Mrs. Deb Smith of Portales, N. M., Mrs. Gordon McDonald of Colorado Springs, Colo., Mrs. Frank Bates Jr. of Gatesville, Mrs. Dunne Ramsey of Marlin, Mrs. L. V. Arnett of Fort Stockton and Mrs. Don Bates of Alice; 30 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; three sisters and three brothers.
One son, Bobbie Gilbreath Patterson, lost his life in the military service during World War II.
