Mrs. L. C. Sheppard, 81, of Gatesville died Monday afternoon in the local hospital. She had lived in and around Gatesville nearly all her life.
Funeral services were held at 2 p. m Wednesday at Scott's Chapel, conducted by Rev. G. L. Derrick and Rev. J T. Avers. Burial was in the Restland Cemetery.
Mrs. Sheppard was born Miss Fannie Victoria Anderson Aug. 12, 1878 in Mississippi. She was married to Mr. Sheppard March 26, 1899. He died in 1944.
She was a member of the Baptist Church.
Surviving are two sons, Arvin B. Sheppard of Gatesville and Ira C. Sheppard of Gatesville; five daughters, Mrs. Lennie Comer of Purmela, Mrs. Annie Chaney of Fort Worth, Mrs. Agnes Walters of Dallas, Mrs. Alma Riddle of Gatesville and Mrs. Maudie Williams of Gatesville; a brother, Lee Anderson of Abilene; 17 grand-children and 23 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers for the Wednesday funeral were Jack Sheppard, Duffie Riddle, Kenneth Riddle, Robert Walters, C. R. Comer, Wesley Chaney and Cecil Chaney.
Honorary pallbearers were Dave McCallister, Chick McCallister, Clyde Hodges, James Boyd, Fred Lee, Grover Ragan, R. P. Williams and Joe Walters.
