ANCESTORS OF BENJAMIN ANTHONY NASSAL:

Eva, the grandmother of Benjamin Anthony Nassal, was born in Germany and migrated to the St. Louis area in 1859. Like many Germans of the era, her family had heard romanticized stories about the Missouri River Valley and its similarities to the climate and farming conditions of their homeland. Germans were also motivated to migrate due to high taxation and poor living conditions in Europe.

Eva's daughter and namesake, Eva Louisa Stein, was born on 08 Mar 1868 in Missouri. When she was almost 20-years-old, she married Benedict Nassal on 06 Feb 1888.

Benedict was born in Germany on 08 Mar 1859. He came to the United States in 1880 at the age of 21.

Benedict and Eva were the parents of 6 children, including Benjamin Anthony Nassal, the subject of this memorial.

Eva passed away on 25 Apr 1905 at the age of 37. Benedict died on 28 Jul 1923 and was buried at St. Mary's Cemetery.
