Mrs. Shelton was born in Falls County, Texas, and was married to J.H. Shelton in Limestone County, Texas on 14 March 1883. The couple moved to Callahan County in November 1889 and settled near Admiral, where they lived until three years ago when they moved to Putnam. Eight children were born to this union, seven are still living.
Survived by her husband; children - Ella Anderson, Lula Connell, Velma Frazier, Milton Shelton, Floyd Shelton, Mrs. Charles Eubank, Pearle Odell; a number of grandchildren.
Services were held at the Admiral Baptist Church officiated by Rev. H.C. Reddock, pastor of the Putnam Baptist Church.
