Obituary, from Greeley (CO) Tribune
26 March 1973:
Mrs. Sarah W. Custar, 1823 12th St., died Sunday, March 25, at Marion, KY., where she was on an extended visit with relatives. She left Greeley early in January and had planned to return later in the spring. She was born in Marion, KY., Oct 11, 1895, and was reared and educated in Kentucky. She was married to Ellis Ray Custar in Fredonia, KY., Dec 3, 1913. They came to Greeley from Las Animas in 1927. Mrs. Custar owned and operated Sarah's Antiques for five years prior to selling her interests last August. She also had been a seamstress at The Toggery and at Behrman's Style Shop. She was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church, the Presbyterian Women's Association and a circle, Garden City Chapter No. 3, Order of Eastern Star, OES Kensington Club, White Shrine of Jerusalem, Child Conservation League, Soroptimist Club, Le Beaux Art Association and Colorado Antique Dealers Association. During World War II she had been a Red Cross nurse's aide.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Ben (Agnes) Peyton and Mrs. Dale (Eva) Majors, both of Greeley, and Mrs. Julian (Dorothy Jean) Simpson of Reno, Nev.; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, at the First United Presbyterian Church. Interment will be in Linn Grove Cemetery. Macy Allnutt Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
