Cecil Myrle Gartman of Gatesville died Tuesday, November 27. He was 75.
Services were held Thursday at Scott's Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ralph Richards and Rev. M.V. Hemphill officiating. Burial was in Restland Cemetery.
Mr. Gartman was born September 6, 1915 in Killeen, the son of the late Charlie and Martha May Gartman. He was reared and attended school in the Stampede community. He farmed and ranched before entering the military in 1942 where he served in the Army during World War II.
Following his discharge in 1945, he returned to Coryell County where he resided for two years, and then moved to Dallas.
He married Maudie Marie Woodard in March of 1951. They made their home in Dallas where Mr. Gartman was employed as a machine operator for Frito Lay.
Mrs. Gartman preceded him in death in 1978.
In 1979, he returned to Coryell County and on December 26,1982, married Mary Beth Foyt, and they made their home in Gatesville.
Mr. Gartman was an avid horseman and had raised and broke horses in his younger years.
He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Gatesville.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Mary Beth Gartman of Gatesville; one step-son, Rudy Woods of Austin; Five step-daughters, Patsy Brickey of Kansas City, Missouri, Peggy Sullivan of Sugarland, Joyce Jackson of Duncanville, Gaylee Foyt of Austin, and Mary Lou Knapp of Grass Valley, California; three brothers, Murvil Gartman of Fort Gates, Aubrey Gartman of Arnett, and J.C. Gartman of San Antonio; two sisters, Alma Cato of Ruston, Louisiana, and Ruby Dyer of Nacogdoches; ten step-grandchildren and one step-great-grandchild.
Pallbearers were Wayne Gartman, Mark Jackson, Wes Little, Mike Jackson, Roger Barnett, Ronnie Hunt, and Jimmy Cummings.
The family has designated the Scott & White Cancer Foundation for memorials.
