oel Hardin was born April 18, 1923 in Nacogdoches County, Texas, U.S.A. The son of Joel "Sam" Green Hardin (1883-1965) and Amanda "Mandy" McMillian (1894-1983). Joel married Mary Mildred "Millie" Bagley (1924-2008) in 1944. They had one son Joel Wayne. Joel entered the Army in 1944, trained in Amarillo Texas, and served in the South Pacfic. He was awarded the Presidential Unit Citation among others. Joel and Millie settled in Orange Texas. He worked in the Power Department for Texaco Oil Company. Joel suffered from Multiple Sclerosis and passed away on October 29, 1974 in Orange, Texas at the age of 51. He is buried at Forrest Lawn Cemetery in Orange, Texas.
